What is the Hovr Slim?
A slim-profile structural floating-shelf bracket: male and female aircraft-grade aluminum extrusions that interlock and are pinned by matching set screws – rated to 125 lbs at an 8-inch depth.* Built for thinner shelves that still need real holding power.
Who's it for
Builders, renovators, millwork shops, and DIYers who want floating shelves that hold real weight on any wall – wood and metal studs, drywall, brick, plaster, or concrete.
How it installs
Mark your studs, drill, mount the rail, slot the bracket in, and pin it with the set screw. Slide your routed shelf over the top – flat, flush, and rated to hold.
What walls it works with
Drywall over studs, plaster, brick, and concrete – anything with solid backing, using the appropriate anchor. Anchor into as many studs as possible. We include the hardware we recommend, but it's not a requirement – any fastener rated for your wall will work. For metal studs, one-shot steel stud anchors are the easy pick.
Warranty & returns
Lifetime hardware warranty against manufacturing defects.
Sustainability
100% recyclable aluminum, with no VOCs and no coatings. Made with low-emission production.
Engineer tested · verified to 125 lbs. Load-tested across substrates and depths. See the test data →

3

Angle the shelf down into place to connect it with the wall bracket, then tighten the set screws to lock the two together securely.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What size bracket do I need?
Match the bracket length to your shelf: 2 Ft fits up to a 31" shelf, 4 Ft up to 63", and the 8 Ft up to 125". You can also cut a longer bracket down to size.
Will I see the set screws?
No – 99% of the time you won't see underneath the shelf or the set screws. If it's a concern, you can add a filler for the holes.
What's the minimum shelf thickness?
We recommend at least 2" thick when using the aluminum bracket, and never thinner than 1¾". The bracket is 1½" thick, so you want at least ¼" of material top and bottom.
What walls does it work with?
Drywall over studs, plaster, brick, and concrete – anything with solid backing, using the right anchor for your wall type. Anchor into as many studs as possible. We include the hardware we recommend, but it's not a requirement – any fastener rated for your wall will work. For metal studs, one-shot steel stud anchors are the easy pick.
Do I need special tools?
A drill, level, and a router (or table saw) to cut the shelf channel. First-time installs should add the Installation Bit Pack, which includes the cobalt and tap bits needed to seat the bracket.
Shipping & returns?
Free shipping on 2 Ft & 4 Ft bracket orders over $149. 8 Ft brackets ship free in orders of 4 or more. Hardware is covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

Probably an ok bracket on new construction with blocking between studs. Ended up not going a different direction. Waste of money

Hi Peter, can you email me at contact@hovrsolutions.com and tell me a bit about what went wrong for you here? Would love to help and see if we can figure out what issue you ran into. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience - It's not what we aim to deliver.

Lego Shelves

I built some floating shelves to hold my son's legos in his room. I used the slim bracket. The process was easy in regard to using my router table to hollow out the back (just make sure to take graduated passes, going deeper each pass). It was easy to install and they work great. I did have to adjust the shape of my shelves to get them to sit right as my wall was warped.

The actual rails that make up the cleat system are great. When locked down they’re super secure, and really do support a lot of weight.
I really like the product for floating shelves that die into a corner. Because the shelf can slide along the cleat on the wall it makes scribing super easy.
I do have an issue with the packaging when the cleats arrive. I’ve purchased a few sets of Hovr brackets, and each time it feels like someone has grabbed a handful of different screws and whatever set screws are near them and thrown them in a used plastic bag. This most recent package only had two set screws for two 4’ Hovr brackets. I would like to see some consistency with what’s provided.
Overall, great product!
